What is Family Engagement?
PTSA works with families, schools and other organizations to help all children be successful throughout their school years at Kellogg. As an engaged family member—parent, grandparent or other caregiver—you make essential contributions to your children’s education to make their potential a reality. How will the Kellogg PTSA Family Engagement support you?
The Family Engagement team:
- Plans and organizes family engagement outreach, programs and activities for the school year
- Publicizes family engagement activities and events using newsletters, website, social media and backpack express

JC Pohl’s presentation on Building Teen Resiliency
On March 25th, the Kellogg PTSA, along with Shorewood, Shorecrest, Einstein and PTA Council, co-sponsored a live event on Building Teen Resiliency with JC Pohl. JC Pohl is an Award-winning producer and nationally certified counselor, JC Pohl, offers a direct pathway to one singular solution: resiliency.
In this interactive session, JC offers five proven and immediately applicable ways to help students build self-efficacy and resilience. These keys to building resilient students might save the next suicidal student, help ignite campus culture, or remind every struggling child that brighter days lie ahead.

Dr. Read’s presentation on Teen Mental Health Webinar
On November 16th, the PTSA hosted a live webinar with Dr. Read. Dr. Read is a clinical psychologist and the Director of the Mood and Anxiety Programs at Seattle Children’s. She is also the Director of Psychology Training through the University of Washington School of Medicine Child Psychiatry Fellowship.
She specializes primarily in the treatment of youth with anxiety disorders and OCD, including when these disorders overlap with other difficulties.
